The chemicals in question have been identified in recent years by law enforcement as precursors in the illegal production of fentanyls and amphetamines. In order to protect the public health and safety, it is necessary to schedule these chemicals under the legislative framework so that law enforcement can take appropriate actions against illegal activities involving these substances and that Health Canada can regulate legitimate activities with these substances if needed.
