Subject of the call - Call for evidence on the use of skin sensitisers, skin irritants and corrosive substances in textile and leather articles, hides and furs
Objective of the call - Swedish and French Competent Authorities are jointly preparing an Annex XV restriction dossier according to article 69 of REACH on the use of skin sensitisers, skin irritants and corrosive substances in textile and leather articles, hides and furs. The proposal intends to cover the placing on the market of finished textile and leather articles, hides and furs intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin). The Dossier Submitters’ starting point is skin sensitising, irritant and corrosive substances that may be present in those articles (clothing, footwear and other articles), including substances with a harmonized classification as Skin Sens. 1/1A/1B and/or Skin Irrit. 2 and/or Skin Corr. 1/1A/1B/1C under CLP, self-classified substances that meet the criteria for those classifications, or substances that are recommended to be classified as such by RAC. Other substances that have been identified as of concern are also included in the scope. The objective of this call is to gather information from relevant stakeholders on:
(*) The identification of those substances in textile and leather articles, hides and furs likely to be present in any of the finished
(*) any use of those substances in textile and leather articles, hides and furs to be sold to the general public
(*) human health exposure data from those substances likely to be found in the finished articles to be sold to the general public
(*) information about their replacement possibilities (availability, technical and economic feasibility of substitutes)
