Mergers: Commission clears acquisition of Energy, Chemicals & Resources business division of Jacobs by WorleyParsons

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of the Energy, Chemicals & Resources business division of Jacobs Engineering Group (“Jacobs ECR”) of the US by WorleyParsons of Australia. Jacobs ECR supplies engineering consultancy services primarily in the energy, chemicals and resources sectors, providing a range of services to customers including engineering strategy and design, project and construction management, operation and maintenance services. WorleyParsons is a global professional services provider, which supplies engineering consultancy services in the hydrocarbons, power, infrastructure, chemicals, minerals and metals and other sectors.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because of its limited impact on the market structure. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
