According to the report of European Commission Rapid Alert System for dangerous non-food products, last week several products have been found non compliant with EU legislation. This included:
(*) Leather riding gloves (Brand: Uvex). The amount of Chromium VI in the leather is too high (measured value 39.2 mg/kg). Chromium VI is sensitising and may trigger allergic reactions. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation.
(*) Leather skirt. The amount of Chromium VI in the leather parts of the skirt is too high (measured value up to 43 mg/kg). Chromium VI is sensitising and may trigger allergic reactions. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation.
(*) Toy slime (Brand: C&T Handels). The migration of boron from the product is too high (measured value up to 1853 mg/kg). Ingestion or contact with an excessive quantity of boron may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to the reproductive system. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-3.
(*) Liquid for e-cigarettes (Brand: PURPLE LABEL). The product contains more than the maximum permitted amount of nicotine (announced value 100 mg/ml) and is presented in a container that is too big. Nicotine is acutely toxic and can endanger the user's safety, notably if the product comes into contact with the skin or is ingested. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Tobacco Products Directive (2014/40/EU).
