Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme

In order to obtain the status of an AEO, the operator must meet a number of requirements, e.g. being in possession of a record of compliance with customs and tax obligations, have an appropriate administrative organisation as well as proven financial solvency. Moreover, the operator is, inter alia, required to ensure the physical security of the premises, employees and business partners as well as to comply with security procedures for the means of transport and commodities. General benefits, which apply to all of the aforementioned AEO types, are, amongst others, priority, personalised and expedited treatment in the process of customs clearance, a reduced number of physical inspections in the operator's facilities as well as participation in the formulation of proposals to amend the legislation and customs procedures aimed at the improvement of the AEO status.
