Rotterdam Convention | 2-5 December 2019 | National workshop to strengthen capacities for the implementation of the Rotterdam Convention in Colombia

 Colombia is a Party to the Rotterdam Convention since 2008 and has made significant efforts for its implementation. The Secretariat of the Convention delivered technical assistance to Colombia from 2013 to 2016 through two pilot projects that were executed in two phases; the first related to notifications of Extremely Hazardous Pesticide Formulations (FPEP) and the second related to the fulfillment of obligations under Articles 5, 11 and 12 of the Convention. With the objective of making further progress in implementation, the Designated National Authorities in Colombia requested technical assistance to the Secretariat, but this time with a special focus on risk assessment of pesticides. Strengthened technical capacities in this area will support an integral pesticide evaluation process based on local conditions and on available resources.
