Control campaign shows illegal content of PFAS in ski wax and a shell jacket

It is convenient when the outdoor clothing is water-repellent, but it can also be problematic if it has been treated with toxic substances. PFASs are a very large group of substances that i.a. used in a wide range of consumer products to make them water, grease and dirt repellent.

There are many different PFASs, the most well known being PFOS and PFOA. We know that most of them are probably problematic, because they, among other things. can be carcinogenic, are difficult to degrade and accumulate in the environment, in animals and humans.
