The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) of Brazil participated in the 1st Brazil-China Nanotechnology Seminar held on Monday in Shanghai. The event primarily focused on presenting the key policies of both countries concerning technological development, innovation, and entrepreneurship in nanotechnology. Additionally, it aimed to promote innovation ecosystems, projects, and cooperation opportunities.

This seminar was part of the 16th Pujiang Innovation Forum, which gathered more than 300 participants from 31 countries from September 9th to 11th. Osório Coelho, the Director of Innovation Programs at the Secretariat for Technological Development and Innovation of MCTI, highlighted in his speech the new guidelines and strategies of the ministry for the nanotechnology sector and the forthcoming National Strategy for Science, Technology, and Innovation (ENCTI 2023-2030).

In a virtual presentation, Felipe Belucci, the General Coordinator of Enabling Technologies, outlined the ministry's initiatives related to nanotechnology. These initiatives included the National Nanotechnology Laboratories System (SisNANO), the Laboratory of Advanced Materials and Strategic Minerals (a joint effort between MCTI and the Nuclear Technology Development Center, supported by FINEP), National Institutes of Science and Technology (INCTs), and projects supported through public calls by the BRICS countries.

Brazilian researchers also participated in the seminar, both in person and remotely. Representatives from institutions such as the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNNano) at the National Center for Energy and Materials Research (CNPEM), the Federal University of Espírito Santo, and the INCT of Ferroic Materials for Energy Converters were present at the event.

The seminar served as a platform for fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange between Brazil and China in the field of nanotechnology, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in advancing technological innovation.
