Task Groups are created by the Chemical Review Committee (CRC) to undertake a preliminary review of candidate chemicals scheduled for consideration by the CRC at its 15th meeting.

Each Task Group prepares a report, which includes their assessment of whether the individual notifications meet the criteria set out in the Rotterdam Convention. The notifications are available as meeting documents on the Meeting Documents page. The initial review by the Task Group is intended to facilitate the work of the Committee and does not replace the requirement for each of the candidate chemicals to be considered by the entire Committee.

The draft reports posted on this page are the result of intersessional work by the Task Groups and are to be finalized at the Task Group pre-meeting, held on Monday, 7 October 2019. These Task Group pre-meetings are open to all Committee members as well as to observers.

The purpose of these reports is to present the Task Group’s analysis of the notifications and supporting documentation from Canada, Norway and Japan, and to put forward recommendations for the consideration of the Committee. The reports contain an overall analysis, along with a recommendation to the Committee. The report draws its conclusions based on the information provided in the notifications of the three Parties, together with the corresponding supporting information, and an analysis of its compatibility with the information requirements of Annex I and the criteria of Annex II.
