Description
New draft regulations announced by Israel's Ministry of Health called "Protection of Public Health Regulations (Food) (Allowed levels of melamine and its analogs in foods) 5780-2020", that will replace relevant similar guidelines. These regulations set the maximum allowed levels of melamine and its analogs in foods in accordance with the Codex Alimentarius and divide it into three food types: In formula powders for infants and follow-on formulas for toddlers - Up to 1 mg/kg of the product; In the ready-to-feed form of infant formulas - Up to 0.15 mg/kg of the product; In other food types - Up to 2.5 mg/kg of the product. The Public Health Protection Act (Food) stipulates that any directive and procedure instruction of The National Food Service, setting out safety and quality requirements for food, published on the website on the eve of the commencement of this Act shall continue to apply and be regarded as "Food Regulations" until regulations are enacted to replace them.
