Americans' trust in scientists rises, follows political divide

Americans' confidence in scientists is on the rise, but deep political divisions persist, a new nationwide poll reveals.

The Pew Research Center poll of more than 4,400 adults found that 86 percent have at least "a fair amount" of confidence in scientists to act in the public interest. That includes 35 percent who said they have "a great deal" of confidence, up from 21 percent in 2016.
