The 52nd Working Group meeting on Specifications of Food Additives took place over two days, from 17th to 19th October 2023. The meeting covered several important agenda items:

(*) Re-evaluation of saccharin (E954) in its various forms - This agenda item was not discussed due to time constraints.

(*) Re-evaluation of Acesulfame-K (E950) - The draft opinion on Acesulfame-K was discussed, and a draft document will be prepared for further discussion at a future Working Group meeting, taking into account the comments from participants.

(*) Follow-up on the re-evaluation of vegetable carbon (E 153) - The meeting focused on evaluating technical data related to impurities in E 153, submitted by a business operator. A draft document will be prepared for discussion in a future Working Group meeting based on participant feedback.

(*) Re-evaluation of Neotame (E 961) - The Working Group discussed additional technical data submitted by a business operator regarding Neotame. A draft document will be prepared for further discussion at an upcoming Working Group meeting, considering the comments from participants.

The meeting had no other business to discuss, and the minutes of the 52nd Working Group meeting, held on 17th and 19th October 2023, were agreed upon.

The next Working Group meeting is scheduled for 28 and 29 November 2023.
