The Ministry of Health supervises imports of pharmaceuticals and medical devices into Belize. All kinds of pharmaceuticals may only be imported if there is a duly registered pharmacist in charge at the importing business entity. In addition, a licence is to be obtained by importers of such goods. Furthermore, the drugs to be imported are to be registered with the Ministry of Health. For each actual importation, a relevant import permit must be applied for at the responsible authority prior to importation.
