Good indoor air quality - Germany asks for VOC labellng

The German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) had required to test how construction products affect indoor air quality. Testing was conducted on products that in Germany require strict compliance with regulations on volatile organic compounds (VOC), such as flooring, varnishes and sealants. The European Commission has made a number of recommendations on the use of VOCs and other chemical additives without specific labelling. "Germany's high standards are jeopardised. We have a lot of things to do health risk, "said Ms Krautzberger. "We need clear labelling rules" Much in the same fashion as fire protection classes, a class system for VOC could be established.
