The Minutes of the 7th Meeting of the Working Group on Specifications of Food Additives include the following scientific topics for discussion:
4.1. Re-evaluation of ascorbyl palminate (E 304i) as a food additive in
foods for infants below 16 weeks of age (EFSA-Q-2018-00089)
Data submitted on ascorbyl palmitate (E 304i) by interested business operators on the
presence of toxic elements and residual solvents were discussed and an assessment of the
available data was prepared. The assessment of the data will be further considered for the
re-evaluation of this food additive at the EFSA Working Group on the re-evaluation of food
additives permitted in foods for infants below 16 weeks of age.
4.2. Re-evaluation of sodium octenyl succinate (E1 450) as a food additive
in foods for infants below 16 weeks of age (EFSA-Q-2018-00102)
Data submitted on sodium octenyl succinate (E 1450) by interested business operators on
the presence of toxic elements, sulfur dioxide, and octenyl succinic acid were discussed and
an assessment of the data was prepared. The assessment of the data will be further
considered for the re-evaluation of this food additive at the EFSA Working Group on the reevaluation of food additives permitted in foods for infants below 16 weeks of age.
