Under the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP), the Aldehydes Group, comprising five substances, underwent assessment to determine their environmental and health risks. The substances evaluated included Benzaldehyde, Octanal, Nonanal, Methylbenzaldehyde, and Vanilla oils. The final assessment, published on May 25, 2024, concluded that these substances do not meet the criteria under section 64 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, indicating no significant risk to the environment or human health. Consequently, no follow-up activities are planned for these substances at this time.

The assessment results were officially announced in the Canada Gazette, Part I. This comprehensive evaluation is part of the CMP's ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and management of chemical substances in Canada.
