The Minutes of the 14th plenary meeting includes the following items:
New mandate
(*) UV-filter HAA299 (nano)
Nanomaterials in cosmetic ingredients
(*) Safety of nanomaterials in cosmetics. The preliminary scientific advice has been published and is under commenting period until 2 November.
(*) Hydroxyapatite – submission II. The preliminary Opinion has been finalised and adopted.
(*) Nano Copper. The preliminary Opinion has been finalised and adopted.
(*) Nano Gold. Points for clarification were discussed. A revised draft will be further discussed at the next nano WG meeting.
(*) Nano Platinum. A request for clarification letter was sent to the Applicants and the SCCS is waiting for their answer by October 2020. A reminder will be sent. A revised draft is planned to be further discussed at the next nano WG meeting.
Cosmetic Ingredients
(*) TiO2 non-nano for an exemption under Art. 15(1). The final Opinion was adopted on 6 October by written procedure and published.
(*) Scientific Advice on fragrance methyl N-methylanthranilate was adopted on 16 October by written procedure and published.
(*) BPA in clothing. The preliminary Opinion was adopted on 16 October by written procedure and published. A public consultation is opened until 7 December.
(*) Resorcinol. The preliminary Opinion was adopted on 16 October by written procedure and published. The commenting period is running until 22 December.
(*) Homosalate. The preliminary Opinion has been finalised and adopted.
(*) Propylparaben. The preliminary Opinion has been finalised and adopted
(*) Octocrylene. Revised draft Opinion has been presented and discussed. New tasks have been allocated to members. A revised version of the Opinion will be further discussed at the next WG meeting.
(*) Benzophenone-3. Tasks have been distributed among members after a report from the rapporteur. A revised version of the Opinion will be further discussed at the next WG meeting.
(*) Methyl salicylate (methyl 2-hydroxybenzoate). The new dossier was presented and tasks will be allocated to the members by the next WG meeting.
(*) Addendum to the scientific Opinion SCCS/1613/19 on the safety of aluminium in cosmetic products - Submission II. The new dossier was presented and tasks have been allocated to members. A draft Opinion will be presented at the next WG meeting.
(*) C054 hair dye. A request to Applicant has been sent. The draft Opinion is on hold until November when the Applicant should send additional study to the SCCS.
