This conference on the risks of exposure carcinogens brings together representatives from cross-industry organisations, policy makers, social partners, experts and labour inspectors and companies. The objective is to present successful initiatives and share experiences that help companies to comply with new limit values aimed at preventing exposure to carcinogen substances.

EU-OSHA’s national focal points from Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are organising this conference together with official campaign partner BusinessEurope. The conference kicks off with opening remarks by Rebekah Smith from BusinessEurope and Heidi Boussen from the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. An interview with Stefan Olsson from the European Commission’s department for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion follows.

Next is a presentation of four successful sectoral initiatives aimed at tackling exposure to carcinogens from the Benelux countries and at EU level. Participants are also encouraged to share their own initiatives, experiences, campaigns and solutions. This is followed by a Q&A in a lively market place setting. Speakers also highlight the Roadmap on Carcinogens, an action scheme that aims to share good practices between companies and organisations across Europe.

A panel discussion follows on the role and actions of cross-industry sectoral organisations. Kris de Meester from BusinessEurope and Esther Lynch, from another official campaign partner, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), lead the discussion with social partners and the audience.
