EU Commission launches call for tenders for study on adaptation of the sugar supply chain after the end of sugar quotas

Given this difficult market context, the Commissioner for agriculture and rural development set up a High-level expert group on sugar (HLG) in 2019 to explore and evaluate possible solutions to address the situation. In its final report published in July 2019, the HLG made a series of recommendations addressed to all sugar sector’s actors, including the recommendation to the European Commission to initiate a comprehensive review of the possible strategies for improving the market resilience of the sector.

With the published call for tenders, the European Commission invites tenders to submit proposals for a study on the adaptation strategies of the sugar supply chain after the end of the sugar quotas.
