The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement on the release of EPA’s PFAS Strategic Roadmap:

“We look forward to reviewing EPA’s PFAS Roadmap with our members and working with the Agency on this important issue.

“According to EPA, approximately 600 PFAS substances are manufactured or in use today, each with its own unique properties and uses, from cellphones to solar panels, for which alternatives are not always available.

“The American Chemistry Council supports the strong, science-based regulation of chemicals, including PFAS substances. But all PFAS are not the same, and they should not all be regulated the same way. EPA’s Roadmap reinforces the differences between these chemistries and that they should not all be grouped together.

“We hope and expect any federal actions will be consistent with sound science.”
