Chemicals are spreading in the children's room : Researchers find over 100 harmful substances in plastic toys

Every day children play with toys made of plastic. But it can be dangerous to their health.

Plastic contains various chemicals that can be disease-causing and endocrine disrupting.

There are regulations in the area and rules for which substances toys may contain.

Still, researchers find from among others DTU in a study over 100potentially harmful substances in various plastic materials used for toys.

- As consumer , one can get the impression that all toys on the market are safe. But not all chemicals in all toys have been tested - so we do not know if it is all safe or not.

So says Peter Fantke, who is a professor at DTU and one of the researchers behind the study. The study was made in collaboration with the UN Environment Program.
