The SCCS - Minutes of the 17th plenary meeting includes the following items:

New Mandates

(*) Scientific Advice on Homosalate

(*) Opinion on Butylparaben

(*) DG GROW presented a draft mandate on a new hair dye Sodium Bromothymol Blue (C186). A letter to the Applicant requesting to clarify few points was drafted by the SCCS and sent. The adoption of the mandate is on hold.

Comments on adopted opinion

(*) Preliminary Opinion on Methylsalicylate. The rapporteur presented the SCCS responses to comments received during the commenting period as well as the final Opinion, which has been amended accordingly. All documents have been adopted.

(*) Following a question received on the SCCS Opinion on Lawsonia inermis (Henna) (SCCS/1511/13), the SCCS will draft a corrigendum.

(*) Preliminary Opinion on Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) is still under commenting period until 23 November.

(*) Preliminary Opinion on Prostaglandin and prostaglandin-analogues is still under commenting period until 23 November.

Draft opinions discussed

(*) Kojic acid. The preliminary Opinion has been adopted and will be published. The following draft Opinions will be further discussed at the next WG meeting in November:

(*) Scientific Advice on Homosalate (new calculations)

(*) Genistein and Daidzein

(*) Scientific Advice on Triclocarban / Triclosan

WG nanomaterials

Comments on opinions adopted

(*) HAA299 (nano). The rapporteur presented the SCCS response to comment received during the commenting period as well as the final Opinion. All documents have been adopted.

Draft opinions updated

(*) Fullerenes (nano). The draft Opinion was presented and will be discussed at the next WG meeting in November.
