Since 2017, ECHA has been looking into some chemicals present in these products - polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), metals, and phthalates. In ECHA's latest study on infill material, it was found that certain chemicals need more risk assessment as they could pose a risk to EU citizens' health and the environment.
