This report provides a summary of the discussions at the “Global Forum on Environment: Plastics in a Circular Economy – Design of Sustainable Plastics from aChemicals Perspective” that took place on 29-31 May 2018 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The workshop was organised in co-operation between the OECD Joint Meeting of the Chemicals Committee and the Working Party on Chemicals, Pesticides and Biotechnology (Joint Meeting) and Working Party on Resource Productivity and Waste (WPRPW), and was hosted by the Danish Government, with funding from the European Commission, Nordic Council of Ministers, Austria (Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism), Germany (Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety) and Belgium (Public Waste Management Agency of Flanders).

An expert group was formed from delegates nominated by the Joint Meeting and the WPRPW to inform the organising of the workshop in collaboration with the OECD secretariat and representatives within the Danish Government. The report takes into account feedback received from Delegates after the workshop, and comments received from the Joint Meeting and WPRPW by written procedure.
