The Minutes of the Working Group Meeting on Cosmetic Ingredients includes the following items:
New mandates
(*) A new mandate for a Scientific Advice (SA) on the threshold for the warning ‘contains formaldehyde’ in Annex V, preamble point 2 for formaldehyde-releasing substances, was adopted by written procedure on 12 February and published. A Rapporteur has been selected and will be appointed by the Commission.
(*) Four new mandates for endocrine disrupting (ED) substances from Group A (4- Methylbenzylidene camphor - 4-MBC, Butylated Hydroxytoluene - BHT, Kojic acid, Genistein and Daidzein) will be adopted by written procedure after the 2 meeting before their publication. Rapporteurs have been selected and will be appointed by the Commission.
(*) A new mandate for the revision of the Vitamin A Opinion will be adopted by written procedure after the meeting before publication. A Rapporteur has been selected and will be appointed by the Commission.
Draft Opinion discussed
(*) Methylsalicylate - a draft preliminary version of the Opinion has been discussed and new tasks allocated to the members. A revised version will be discussed during the next WG meeting.
(*) Prostaglandins and analogues - a draft preliminary version of the Opinion has been discussed and new tasks allocated to the members. A revised version will be discussed during the next WG meeting.
(*) Hair Dye Acid Yellow 3 – C054 – the requested study was received and discussed and new tasks allocated to the members. A revised version will be discussed during the next WG meeting.
Comments on Opinions
(*) BPA in clothing – the public consultation was running until 7 December. 25 comments from 6 recipients were received. SCCS draft responses to comments have been discussed and the preliminary Opinion has been revised accordingly. Tasks were allocated among members. These documents are under finalisation for adoption planned during plenary meeting (30-31 March).
(*) Homosalate – the commenting period was running until 4 January. Following the submission of additional data, DG GROW agreed with an extension of the deadline until June 2021. SCCS draft responses have been discussed and will be further discussed at the next WG meeting.
(*) Resorcinol – the preliminary Opinion has been published and was open for comment until 22 December. SCCS draft responses will be discussed at the next WG meeting.
(*) Propylparaben – the preliminary Opinion has been published and was open for comment until 4 January. SCCS draft responses will be discussed at the next WG meeting.
(*) Benzophenone-3 – the preliminary Opinion has been published and was open for comment until 15 February 2021. SCCS draft responses will be discussed at the next WG meeting.
(*) Aluminium in lipstick - addendum for new concentration: the preliminary Opinion has been published and was open for comment until 15 February 2021. SCCS draft responses will be discussed at the next WG meeting
(*) Octocrylene - the preliminary Opinion was adopted by written procedure on 15 January. It has been published and is open for comment until 15 March 2021.
