Helsinki, 19 October 2021 - ECHA’s Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) concluded in its opinion that d-allethrin should not be approved for product-type 18 (insecticides, acaricides and products to control other arthropods). The committee considered that the toxicological test data presented in the dossier submitted does not sufficiently match the profile of d-allethrin currently placed on the market. The committee also identified unacceptable risks to human health and the environment from the use of the substance.
The committee adopted a positive opinion approving the active substance BIT for product-types 6 (preservatives for products in storage) and 13 (working or cutting fluid preservatives).The committee also adopted positives opinions for nine applications for Union authorisation for:
The European Commission together with the EU Member States will take the final decision on approval of active substances and on Union authorisation of biocidal product families.
