3-monochloropropanediol (3-MCPD), 2-monochloropropanediol (2-MCPD) and their fatty acid reesters and glycidyl fatty acid esters are heat-related contaminants in food. The substances have been detected in numerous heated foods, for example in certain (high-fat) baked goods, baby food and edible fats and oils.
