On March 19, 2024, the Inter-committee Coordination Group (ICCG) convened in Luxembourg for a half-day session to discuss various regulatory and strategic developments within the European Union's chemical and health safety sectors. Key highlights included progress updates on the EU's Chemical Strategy for Sustainability and the ongoing revision of the EU Cosmetic Regulation.

The group also reviewed the new study on data requirements and assessment methodologies across EU agencies, aiming to streamline and enhance regulatory frameworks for chemical assessments under the 'One Substance-One Assessment' initiative. The meeting discussed the preliminary update on guidelines for phthalates in medical devices, which will soon undergo public consultation and a hearing in April.

Additionally, the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) and the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) presented their current projects, including risk assessments on new technologies and substances, and planned future activities such as the Methodology Workshop on new risk assessment models.

The next ICCG meeting is scheduled for October 29, 2024.
