The Minutes of the Working Group Meeting on Nanomaterials in Cosmetic Products includes the following items for discussion:

New mandates 

Official mandate on HAA299 nano, submission II (UV filter Bis- (Diethylaminohydroxybenzoyl Benzoyl) Piperazine (nano)) has been adopted by the WG and by the SCCS at the October plenary meeting. Rapporteur has been selected. First version of the draft opinion has been discussed. New version will be prepared for the next meeting.

Preliminary Opinions open for comments

Preliminary ‘Scientific advice on the safety of nanomaterials in cosmetics’ has been adopted by the SCCS by written procedure on 5 October and published for commenting period until 2 November. In total, 10 comments were received from the different stakeholders. The replies to comments have been prepared and discussed. 

Preliminary Opinion on Hydroxyapatite (nano) – submission II.

Opinion was adopted at the SCCS October plenary meeting. Opinion is open for comments until 4 January 2021

Preliminary Opinion on Copper (nano) and Colloidal Copper (nano).

Opinion was adopted at the SCCS October plenary meeting. Opinion is open for comments until 4 January 2021

Draft opinions to discuss 

(*) Opinion on Gold/colloidal gold and surface modified gold. Opinion will be further discussed at the next meeting.

(*) Opinion on Platinum/colloidal platinum. Opinion will be further discussed at the next meeting.

Legislative points from GROW

DG GROW colleagues presented the new Commission Chemical strategy. Move of the SCCS and SCHEER to an EU Agency is envisaged under the new Strategy.
