The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has introduced a mandatory performance standard for Button Cell or Coin Batteries, as required by Reese's Law. This rule aims to reduce the risk of injury to children under 6 years old who may ingest these batteries. The rule will be effective from October 23, 2023, unless a significant adverse comment is received by October 5, 2023, which would lead to a withdrawal of the rule. Additionally, there is a 180-day transitional period of enforcement discretion from September 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024.
