Import Licensing

The scope of commodities for which an Import Licence is required has been modified. Therefore, the classification of goods pertaining to the documents entitled Import Licence and Registration of Importers, i.e. the assignment of commodity codes to which these measures apply, has been updated. 

Ozone-Depleting Substances (ODS)

The importation of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and products containing them is subject to the authorisation from the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES). Importers applying for such an import authorisation must be in possession of an Environmental Licence, authorising the general handling of substances with environmental impact. Paraguay participates in the phase-out system for ODS along the provisions of the Montreal Protocol. Due to the phasing-out, the import and active use of certain ODS or products containing them is prohibited. Furthermore, only products for registered importers are eligible for importation.
