China | Public Consultation on Ecological Standards for Radioactive Waste Disposal Assessment

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China has released a draft titled "Technical Guidelines for Environmental Impact Assessment - Format and Content of the Environmental Impact Report for Near-Surface Disposal of Radioactive Solid Waste" to solicit public comments. This initiative aims to implement relevant national laws on environmental protection and radiation pollution control. The draft guidelines, which are available for review on the ministry's website, outline standardized procedures for evaluating the environmental impacts of construction projects dealing with the near-surface disposal of radioactive waste. Feedback can be submitted until May 31, 2024, either in writing or via email to the designated contact.
