Title of document: Proyecto de Reglamento Técnico sobre Vajilla y/o utensilios de mesa de plástico biodegradables

This draft technical regulation aims to establish the technical and labeling requirements for the manufacture of biodegradable plastic tableware and utensils for food and beverages intended for human consumption. It applies to domestic consumption, importation, distribution, delivery, and commercialization, in accordance with Law No. 30884, which regulates single-use plastics and disposable containers. The regulation seeks to ensure that degradation does not cause pollution by microplastics or hazardous substances, and aims to prevent and mitigate environmental and health risks within a circular economy framework, as well as reduce information asymmetry in the consumption chain.
