Every year, more than one hundred thousand people are estimated to die in Europe as a result of working with carcinogens. In their joint effort to reduce exposure to carcinogens at European workplaces, the EU Council-presidencies of 2016 (Netherlands) and 2018 (Austria), the European Commission, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and the European social partners, ETUC and Business Europe, support the launch of the website www.roadmaponcarcinogens.eu.

Earlier this year in Amsterdam, the initiators of the roadmap have committed themselves by signing a Covenant to promoting awareness raising as well as the exchange of good practices that prevent or reduce occupational exposure to carcinogenic substances.

The website acts as a ‘hub’ for activities related to the Roadmap on Carcinogens, which is open for joining by other member states, organisations, businesses, employers and workers, social partners, research organisations, OSH professionals, and other stakeholders, with the ultimate goal to reduce exposure to carcinogens and improve workers health.
