A French non-governmental organization (NGO) called AVICENN has published a report that claims certain everyday products contain unlabelled nanomaterials. The report, entitled "Searching for [Nanos] in Everyday Products", was based on an investigation of 23 products from the categories of food, cosmetics, medicines, hygiene products, toys, clothing, and packaging. According to the report, nanomaterials were found in 20 of the products tested, with most of these products falling under the European Union's labeling requirements for cosmetics, food products, and biocidal products. The report concludes that this highlights the failure of current labeling requirements and the need to extend them to other product categories.
