Pre-Shipment Evaluation of Conformity
Pre-Shipment Evaluation of Conformity (Programme d'Evaluation de la Conformité Avant Embarquement des Marchandises Importées en République du Cameroun - PECAE), which both SGS and Intertek are mandated to carry out, is required for certain kinds of goods which must comply with approved regional, national or international standards and technical regulations in order to be imported into Cameroon. Before the commodities for which either inspection is necessary may be shipped from the country of export, the exporter in the country of supply or the importer in Cameroon is to approach the appointed inspection providers in his country in order to initiate the required inspection.
Once the Import Declaration (DI) has been issued, the exporter or their representative is to submit a request for certification including all required documents either directly at an SGS office in Cameroon or in the seller's country or electronically via the inspection provider's exporter portal. Following the inspection procedures, a value and tariff classification report (RVC) or an attestation of conformity (AoC), as applicable, is issued, which results in the subsequent issue of a Certificate of Conformity by the Standards and Quality Agency (ANOR) that is required for customs clearance in Cameroon. Certain kinds of goods may be exempt from the requirement of a scanner Destination Inspection or a Pre-Shipment Evaluation of Conformity.
