ANSES releases position on the nanomaterial definition revision

Your substances

In a recent post, the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) published their main comments submitted to the public consultation on the definition of nanomaterials launched by the EU earlier this year. In their response ANSES states that the definition needs to be “as comprehensive as possible and define nanomaterials in a unique way based on physico-chemical criteria. Sectoral regulations – for cosmetics, biocides, food, etc. – could then clarify which of these nanomaterials should be subject to specific measures: product labelling, specific assessment, authorisation before they are placed on the market, etc”.
