Korea | Amendments to the "Regulation on Safety Standards for Cosmetics"

The proposed amendments seek to:

- establish detection limit and testing method for nickel (prohibited substance) unintentionally included;

- expand the using range of etidronic acid, cetrimonium chloride, steartimonium chloride , and behentrimonium chloride;

- add chloroacetamide, phenyl paraben, phenyl salicylate which were deleted from the list of allowed cosmetic preservatives (G/TBT/N/KOR/693 etc.), to the negative list of cosmetic substances to make it clear that these substances are no longer allowed for use in cosmetics for safety reasons; and - add a new testing method to measure the reducing agent content in hair straightening and perm wave products.
