Mexico | Authorities and civil society make a call to defend native corn and exercise their right to food without glyphosate

Yesterday, the "Fair of Corn and Milpa: Our corn, our country" summoned Mexicans in all states of the country to join in the defense and protection of this native plant and representative of our culture in the face of the threat of the industry that contaminates corn with agrochemicals and transgenics to the detriment of people's health and well-being.

During the inaugural event on the Zócalo square in Mexico City, the Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources, María Luisa Albores González, highlighted the importance of making known the Presidential Decree of December 31, 2020 to gradually eliminate the use of glyphosate and the prohibition for the planting of transgenic corn, since it is a tool to be able to defend the right to a healthy environment.
