EFSA - Plant Health Newsletter: Media Monitoring No. 47

INTRODUCTION - Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA provides here the 47th media newsletter summarising its Plant Health media monitoring. The aim is to identify relevant information on plant pests that might be of concern to the EU and therefore may require consideration by risk assessors and risk managers. Media are screened using the MEDISYS (Medical Information System) IT platform. The topics covered include the media articles published on the plant pests listed in Annexes IIA and IIB of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/2072, in other EU plant health legal acts and in the EPPO Alert, A1 and A2 lists. A section on pests not listed in the texts mentioned above is also included. This 47 th media newsletter covers the period from 1st to 31st January 2021. During this period, 20 relevant articles links were selected and included in this newsletter. The newsletter is composed of two main parts: 1) a discussion of the main issues reported in the media, 2) links to the selected media articles on plant pests grouped by their listing and taxonomy. It is primarily intended for risk managers and risk assessors in the field of plant health and will serve the EC and Member States in addressing phytosanitary questions. Moreover, it will benefit professionals working in the field and the informed public.
