Social partners sign a joint declaration to prevent MSDs in the hairdressing sector



The social partners Coiffure EU and UNI Europa within the framework of the European Social dialogue adopted a joint statement for the protection of occupational safety and health (OSH) in the hairdressing sector. The declaration aims at preventing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) as an output of ErgoHair, a EU-funded project that promotes effective ergonomic workstations in the small and medium sized hairdressing salons.

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) also partakes in the efforts to reduce OSH risks in the hairdressing trade. In cooperation with the aforementioned European sectoral social partners,  an online interactive risk assessment (OiRA) tool  has been developed. National hairdressing OiRA tools in a range of countries are also available.
