Towards implementing the Climate Law - Cefic.org

Cefic supports the European Green Deal and Europe’s ambition to become climate neutral by 2050 . We have welcomed the agreement on the EU Climate Law that was reached after 15 months of negotiations. On 30 June 2021, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted the European Climate Law as Regulation (EU) 2021/1119, establishing the framework for achieving climate neutrality and amending Regulations (EC) No 401/2009 and (EU) 2018/1999. The European Climate Law enshrines the EU objective of climate-neutrality by 2050, set out in the European Green Deal, in legislation. This means achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions for EU countries as a whole, mainly by cutting emissions, investing in green technologies and protecting the natural environment.
