Summary: The common EU methodology to measure food waste is part of the EU action plan for the circular economy (COM(2015) 614 final), in support of the Sustainable Development Goal target on food waste (SDG 12.3). The methodology will allow for a robust quantification of food waste, giving results that can be compared over time and between Member States. The methodology will describe the data to be collected; it may also include requirements on the minimum quality of reported data.
