EU rules implement the EU’s international commitments under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (chemical substances). Hexachlorobenzene, a substance used in pesticides, is listed in Annex A to the Stockholm Convention (elimination) and in Annex I to EU Regulation 2019/1021.
This initiative amends Annex I which currently does not set a limit value for the presence of hexachlorobenzene as unintentional trace contaminant in substances, mixtures and articles.
