Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection - General Product Safety Regulation - 10 January 2022

On 10 January, IMCO will consider the draft report on the proposal for a Regulation on general product safety. The Regulation will replace the General Product Safety Directive to modernise the EU framework for the safety of non-food consumer products. 

The Rapporteur, Ms Dita Charanzová (Renew), proposes to adapt product safety rules to the new market realities, the digital transition and new emerging risks, thus ensuring that consumers enjoy the highest level of safety while a clear and proportionate set of obligations is introduced for economic operators.
