Import Prohibitions

The classification of goods (i.e. the assignment of tariff codes to relevant measures) has been adjusted in the document entitled Prohibited Imports pursuant to the current provisions of the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN).

Preferential Treatment

Colombia will consider the United Kingdom (UK), which left the European Union (EU) within the framework of a mutual withdrawal agreement on 1 February 2020, as a party of the existing multilateral Trade Agreement between Colombia, Ecuador and Peru with the EU during the transitional period. Until further notice, 31 December 2020 has been stipulated in the respective withdrawal agreement as the end of said transition period.
According to the national Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Colombia will initiate a legislative approval process of a new trade agreement with the UK, i.e. a trade and political continuity agreement is expected to be agreed on and signed in the near future.
