SCCS - Minutes of the Working Group Meeting on Nanomaterials in Cosmetic Products of 8 April 2020

The minutes of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) WG on Nanomaterials in Cosmetic Products, held on the 8th of April 2020, includes:

New mandates

(*) Request for a scientific advice on the safety of nanomaterials in cosmetics. The mandate has been adopted by written procedure and published.

Discussions on draft opinions

(*) A first draft on the request for a scientific advice on the safety of nanomaterials in cosmetics has been discussed and tasks were distributed.

(*) Letters to the Applicants requesting further information:were sent to all Applicants:

o Hydroxyapatite (nano) – submission II. Deadline of the applicant to reply to the SCCS is set for 30 April 2020

o Copper (nano) and Colloidal Copper (nano). Deadline of the applicant to reply to the SCCS is set for 31 May 2020

o Gold/colloidal gold and surface modified gold. Deadline of the applicant to reply to the SCCS is set for 30 June 2020

o Three ZnO coatings. Deadline of the applicant to reply to the SCCS is set for 31 August 2020

o Platinum/colloidal platinum. A letter to the Applicants requesting further information is under finalisation.
