The UK REACH Rolling Action Plan (RAP) for 2023-2025 outlines the initiation of a substance evaluation for N-butylbenzenesulphonamide (BBSA) in 2023. BBSA is commonly used as an additive in various products, primarily in the plastics industry. This evaluation aims to collect information and evidence to determine whether any follow-up actions are necessary. BBSA is used as an additive in polyamide plastics. The Agency for UK REACH is particularly interested in gathering data on BBSA's manufacture, uses, types of plastics it's found in, and the resulting products in Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales). They are also interested in information regarding the disposal, waste management, and recyclability of plastics containing BBSA and whether it has uses in plastics other than polyamides or in non-plastic applications.
