Production of aminated peat from branched polyethylenimine and glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride for sulphate removal from mining water

Highlights: (*) Peat was modified using polyethylenimine and glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride. (*) Amine and quaternary ammonium groups were successfully grafted onto peat. (*) High sulphate uptake capacity of 189.5 ± 2.7 mg/g under acidic conditions was achieved. (*) Modified sorbent is suitable for sulphate removal from acid mine water.
