The state of Vermont requires manufacturers of children’s products that contain chemicals on their List of Chemicals of High Concern to Children (CHCC) to disclose and annually report the listed chemicals to the Department of Health (DOH).
The DOH in Vermont has issued the latest edition of Chemicals of High Concern in Children’s Products Rule which expands the definition of formaldehyde to include “formaldehyde donors”, which are the substances that are intentionally added to a product to degrade to and release formaldehyde as a preservative.
“Formaldehyde donors” include:
• 5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane
• Bronopol
